Steve Rogers not only broke Tony’s heart by not telling him…

Steve Rogers not only broke Tony’s heart by not telling him about the circumstances of Tony’s parents death. He broke his trust.

There is only one contact programmed into this phone. That of the person who sent it. There are thirty six messages. Thirty six unanswered messages.

Tony Stark does not trust easily.  He learned from his father as a child. He learned from Stane as a teenager and now he has learned as an adult from Rogers. All bitter experiences that taught lessons. Lessons that Tony took to heart.  Tony never wanted to be a part of the Avengers but he learned to trust Steve. He trusted him to have his back in battle. He trusted him enough to let him move into his home. He trusted him enough to step up and be Steve’s SIC. Steve took that trust and shattered it like spun glass.

Once you break Tony’s trust, you will not gain it back.

And so, though alliances may be reformed for the greater good. That trust which was nurtured and freely given, will never be again extended to such a degree.

And those messages will remain unanswered.
